EVIDENCE IRRELEVANT-DEFENCE

Maseru, May 23— The defence in an ongoing treason trial against two politicians, former army commander and some army members say evidence presented by former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mr. Moshoeshoe Sehloho is not relevant to the charges against the accused.

Mr. Sehloho who is on the stand as a second witness for the prosecution in the matter, has in his evidence testified that in January 2014 he attended a meeting called by the African Union (AU) with the then Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Soulo. He added that among the delegates were the then Army Commander Tlali Kamoli together with Brigadier Mokaloba and Major Ntlele Ntoi as well as Director General National Security Service (NSS).

He indicated that while attending the meeting and while having breakfast with Mr. Soulo, Commander Kamoli approached them and told them that he just received information from the then Acting Army Commander Motsomotso who was his deputy, that when he got back to Lesotho he was going to get a dismissal letter. He pointed out that he told him that he did not believe what he was saying because he should have been one of the first people to have that information, as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry.
