Mohale’s Hoek, May 30 — Bethel Business Community Development Centre, European Union delegation, National University of Lesotho and various Media Houses have toured the centre’s premises, with the aim of getting an insight into the renewable energy systems the centre has been operating with.
Thung-Thung Yaholnitsky, the daughter of the centre’s founder, stated that BBCDC which has about 40 employees and 300 students, is off- grid and receives energy mostly from solar panels or thermal systems which are widely utilized for water heating, cooking, space heating, green houses and many more, therefore maintaining a clean and safe environment.
On the other hand, EU Head Of Cooperation Mario Giuseppe Varrenti highlighted that promoting renewable energy in Lesotho is their priority, hence the centre has partnered with the National University of Lesotho, and it’s counterparts in Finland and Sweden in implementing the 3 year Low-Carbon Economy Transformation Sustainable Energy Modernization and Access in Lesotho, (LETSEMA), which is aimed at strengthening and promoting sustainable energy practices in Lesotho.
