Qacha’s Nek, Feb.21 — The 2025/26 financial year’s budget speech has revealed that old age pensioners, who currently receive M950 per month, will not see an increment this year breaking the trend of consecutive adjustments in past years.
This decision has sparked mixed reactions among pensioners.
Mr. Motsamai Pheku from Tsoelike, Ha Matsoetlane, expressed his disappointment, stating that the current amount barely covers basic needs.
“I am surprised by what really happened. The money we get is not enough, but I was hopeful for at least a M50 increase, as that has been the usual adjustment. My wish is for the pension to reach at least M1,200 in the future,” he said.
On the other hand, Mrs. Molelekeng Ramakhetha from Tebellong accepted the government’s decision, albeit with some reservations. . .
