Mohale’s Hoek, Nov. 18 — The Deputy Principal Secretary in the Ministry on Information, Communications, Science Technology and Innovation Mrs. Lineo Ramabele Smith has on Monday officiated a 3 day Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) workshop for the Ministry’s management facilitated by the Internal Audit.
When delivering her keynote address, DPS stated that Risk Management increases the likelihood of success, reduces the likelihood of failure and uncertainty in leading the overall goals of an organisation, noting its role it is expected to anticipate changing organisational environment, develop corporate governance, optimise strategic management, secure resources and assets of an organisation, reduce reactive decision making from management, while striving for sustainability of workflow processes.
Mrs. Ramabele Smith further asserted that since time memorial, the Ministry and the government as a whole, has been confronted with numerous internal and external risks that have substantially influenced operations and success, noting the existing risk needs to be evaluated for reliability.
She concluded by noting that ERM is standing out as a vital strategic tool to identify, measure, mitigate and manage uncertainty, noting during the workshop participants will explore principles, processes that contribute to an effective ERM framework and its significance.
