DMA ISSUED A WARNING TO THE RESIDENTS

Maseru, April 02 — Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has issued an alert to the community living underneath Metolong Dam regarding the outflow of the dam due to persistent rainfall.

 According to the statement issued recently by Disaster Management Authority (DMA) stating that following the saturating rain that take place in Maseru since March, 31, 2025 to this far, the Metolong Dam is outflowing as a result people living in the villages of Ha Sekants’i to Ha Ramorake are advised to remain vigilant and make necessary arrangement in anticipation of proceeding flooding  of Metolong dam.

 Additionally DMA has urged the public living in this area to try as much as they can to avoid to be in the places that are near to the dam also to not cross where it is unsafe for them to cross the dam as well as ensuring that animals are kept away from grazing near the dam as the animal ought to die due to submerge.

Moreover the public was also instructed to refrain from picking-up sand in the dam in this time of showering rain, including making  laundry as they might be in trouble of drowning. MM/TL
