Maseru, July 04 — Economists are anticipating a decline in interest rates around August this year.
Mr. Lehlohonolo Mantsi, an Economist said it may not be clear at this point when the rates will lower down and it cannot be predicted how low they can go, but said the value is always determined by economic trends and inflation issues.
Mr. Mantsi said this will make it easy for people to borrow from banks which in turn boosts investments and it also increases the consumers’ purchasing power.
‘’We can also see reductions in poverty and some inequalities going down. That is what it means for an ordinary citizen. They can boost their spending power,’’ Mr. Mantsi explained.
