DDMT MOBILISATION CONTINUES

Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 14 — The District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) is actively mobilizing community leaders, including village chiefs, councillors, policing committee members, and village health workers, regarding the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) humanitarian response project that launched on October 1.

This initiative focuses on providing life-saving Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services in the drought-affected district of Qacha’s Nek.

According to Mr. Mphasi Rabolae, Elderly Care Officer from the Social Development Department and a member of the DDMT, this UNFPA initiative was established in response to a state of emergency declared by Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane in July 2024 due to El Niño-induced drought.
