DA CALLS FOR REVIVAL OF DISTRICT PLANNING UNIT

Berea, Feb. 12 — Berea District Administrator (DA), Mr. Phahlane Makoko has encouraged Heads of Departments (HOD’s) to unite and plan for the revival of the District Planning Unit (DPU).

The DA made the remarks on Wednesday during the monthly meeting of HOD’s staged at the District Administrators boardroom.

Mr. Makoko said the district is currently conducting a number of development projects such as roads rehabilitation, water installation and others, but without the existence of the DPU, coordination and monitoring of such projects becomes challenging.

He said without well-coordinated planning, particularly to where major projects are being implemented, there is always a public outcry about drainage systems or water diversion furrows being directed to their fields and thus causing soil erosion.
