Maseru, Mar.13 — The High Court through Justice Tseliso Mokoko has on Thursday postponed to April 29 2025, sentencing of Reli Letuka of Khohlo- Ntso at Bokong in Thaba-Tseka who has been convicted of the murder of his 3-year-old son.
The court stated that the sentencing cannot proceed as the psychiatric report on the accused which it had requested following the conviction is not yet available. It pointed out that although it would have wanted the case to be disposed of soon, rushing it will not be in the interest of justice.
A Psychiatrist given the task to assess the accused Ms. Khahliso Mokhaoli informed the court that she needs more time to compile the report. She stated that among the work she is yet to do is to go to the community from which the accused comes.
She added that she will also need assistance from the office of the Registrar of the High Court with resources to do that. She undertook to be done with the report by March 24 2025. . .
