Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 30—A long-awaited initiative to decentralize Legal Aid services in Lesotho is finally taking shape, with new offices under construction at Qacha’s Nek judicial premises.
This crucial development aims to enhance access to justice for all Basotho, especially those in vulnerable situations.
In an interview with the Agency, Advocate Leponesa Maleke, Principal Legal Aid Counsel, emphasizes that this effort is backed by the European Union (EU) through a program focused on strengthening governance and reform in Lesotho.
Earlier this year, Legal Aid hosted a consultation workshop with stakeholders to outline specific objectives, particularly aimed at improving access to justice for women, children, and marginalized groups.
“Decentralization will ensure that every Mosotho has access to legal services. This implementation will address many challenges in the justice system, allowing timely and effective assistance for those in need,” said Advocate Maleke. . .
