COLEPE’S FIGHT CONTINUES

Maseru, Mar. 20 — Following numerous attempts to go to the negotiation table and reach a consensus with the government regarding the 25 percent salary increment for public servants, Coalition of Public Employees (COLEPE) is adamant to fight this one to the end.

COLEPE is an alliance of Lesotho Police Staff Association (LEPOSA), Lesotho Public Service Staff Association (LEPSSA), Lesotho Association of Teachers (LAT), Lesotho Teachers Trade Union (LTTU), Lesotho Schools Principal Association (LESPA), Qiloane Nursing Assistants Association (QINUASA) and the Lesotho Nurses Association (LNA).

Speaking in an interview, COLEPE Representative Mr. Letsatsi Ntsibolane said they have tried to have amicable talks with the government but to no avail saying that as they fight this one, they have a bigger goal to see that review laws emphasizing that at the end they shall overcome this.

He said government increasing VAT by 0.5 percent, increasing Chiefs salaries by 200 percent and increasing Members of Parliament (MPs) salaries before the presentation of the 2025/26 budget is proof that capitalists do not care even a tiny bit about the welfare of the socialists (employees/public servants) saying the capitalists are only interested in what benefits them and not the others.
