Maseru, Aug.08—Council of Churches in Lesotho say that they embrace and accept the gift of a cross which the Prime Minister donated to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lesotho’s existence.
This the Council said in the statement released on Wednesday this week where they said they appreciate the gesture saying a cross is a unique symbol in Christianity and this is supported by 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Therefore it had to be approached with all sensitivity.
The Council stated that despite this they are concerned as the church that the gift was donated without consultation churches in Lesotho saying therefore this issue can bring a lot of confusion in the meaning of the cross in their faith…
