BOTHA-BOTHE HOSTS ANIMAL FARMERS’ SHOW

Botha Bothe, March 24 — The Botha Bothe Wool and Mohair Growers Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture hosted a farmers’ show today to assess whether farmers continue to work hard in producing high quality wool and mohair for the market.

Chairperson of the association, Mr. Nts’oebe Sankoela explained that the event aimed to evaluate whether farmers are properly feeding and caring for their animals while maintaining the quality of their wool and mohair to remain competitive in international markets.

“This year, when we go to the national show, we hope to secure first or second position because, unlike last year, I have seen that farmers have worked very hard to improve their wool and mohair production. If our wool and mohair are competing internationally, it means our farmers are making great efforts to take care of their animals and ploughing their fields to ensure they have enough feed, even during droughts,” he said.

The overall winner in the wool category, Mr. Tumahole Lerafa from Motete Wool and Mohair Shearing Shed, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, saying he has been in the animal farming industry for a long time and continues to enjoy every aspect of it. He credited his success to keeping his competition animals close to him to ensure they receive the best care at all times. MJL/TL
