Thaba Tseka, Feb. 27 — The statement from the 30th Southern Africa Regional Climate Outlook forum overview of dynamical models states that the period of February to June covers the occurrence of a bimodal type of rainfall season and the transition to winter season over most of Southern Africa.
The statement further continues to indicate that an increased probability of above-normal rainfall conditions is forecasted by the dynamical models over South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and over the Mozambican channel including Madagascar.
It also highlighted that the outlook presented above is broadly consistent with the forecasts generated with the multimodel ensemble of international dynamical climate forecast models including those presented by the Global Producing Centres mandated by the World Meteorological Organization.
It further noted that below normal conditions are forecasted for only northern and northeastern parts of the region, adding that those forecasts are relatively consistent across the February to June 2025 period, with minor differences between intra-seasons. KLM/TL
