BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION WITH HISTORICAL FILM

Maseru, Sept. 30 — In celebration of Lesotho’s bicentennial, the Alliance Francaise of Maseru in collaboration with Morija Museum and Archives will host the premiere of ‘The Kingdom in The Sky: Moshoeshoe I’s Strategy and Legacy’.

According to Ms. Elisabeth Douillet the Director of Alliance Francaise de Maseru, this is a short historical film that delves into the rich and interconnected history between Lesotho and France emphasizing the strategic alliance between King Moshoeshoe I and French Missionaries.

“The film explores the enduring partnership founded on mutual respect which has shaped relations between the two nations,” she said.

She indicated that this is supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Embassy to South Africa and the Alliance Francaise de Maseru, the event seeks to commemorate King Moshoeshoe I’s significant role in preserving Lesotho’s sovereignty and establishing international alliances.
