Maseru, Mar. 11 — Peace, rain and prosperity were amongst the issues which were delineated in the prayers that were passed on for the commemoration of Moshoeshoe’s day.
These prayers were said by Archbishop Tlali Lerotholi while passing on blessings during the commemoration which was held at the foothills of the fortress of King Moshoeshoe I on Monday.
In his prayers, Archbishop Lerotholi said that Lesotho is currently facing a massive challenge of dryness which he urged Basotho to continue praying for rain.
Additionally, Bishop Refiloe Kgabe while quoting the verse of the day in Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 1 to 2 urged Basotho nation to remember the love the Lord has descended on his people and made a comparison of the sacrifices that King Moshoeshoe I made for his nation.
She also mentioned that Basotho should keep in mind the times in life that the Lord has protected them and also how well King Moshoeshoe I has fought for his nation.
Meanwhile, the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) chaplaincy led the lighting of the revival torch.
Every year, King Letsie III with the company of the Prime Minister lays wreaths at the cemeteries on top of the Thaba Bosiu hill in commemoration of Moshoeshoe’s day.
The laying of wreaths , the King does also in company of the core leaders of the Principal Chiefs of the Makhoakhoa, Batlokoa and Bataung clans.
