Maseru, April 15 — Issues surrounding albinism come in as a top priority that the country of Lesotho is faced with in terms of raising awareness on them.
This was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane following the courtesy call that was paid upon him by the UN Independent expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism, Ms. Muluka-Anne Miti-Drummond on Monday.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Monday, Mr. Mpotjoane indicated that the purpose of this visit was for the UN to state its support on the rights and wellbeing of people with Albinism within the country.
He however mentioned that stigma and discrimination are still amongst the inequalities that people with albinism still encounter within the societies showing that there is a vast need to pass education on albinism especially from the earliest ages as to allow for acceptance.
