ASSOCIATION RAISES AWARENESS

Maseru, Apr. 20 —- As part of raising awareness of Hemophilia as well as commemorating World Hemophilia Day, Hemophilia Association of Lesotho (HAL) has on Saturday held a fun walk and marathon in Maseru.

Speaking in an interview, Marketing and Public Relations Manager of the Association Mr. Mofota Makoae stated that hemophilia remains a challenge in Lesotho. He however indicated that the Government of Lesotho always ensures that essential drugs which are also needed by people with hemophilia are available.

He remarked that it is through concerted efforts that rare bleeding disorders can be effectively treated and people with the condition can receive support. He insisted that people with the condition should ensure its proper treatment as it is expensive, thus having an impact on the economy.

Mr. Makoae pointed out that HAL has been hard at work ensuring that communities and families are aware of hemophilia. He stated that as their vision is to ensure universal health coverage, they are already focusing on training healthcare workers as well as raising awareness in hospitals and schools.
