AG WARNS OF A FRUITLESS EXPENDITURE

Thaba Tseka May 28 – The Auditor General report of 2021/2022 states that Liseleng and Mants’onyane Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have not been completed on time.

It continued to state that specific timeframes were established for constructing seven Base BTS and deadlines were set between November 2021 and March 2022.

It, however, indicated that, during the audit conducted in September 2022, it was observed that five of the BTS were still incomplete.

Furthermore, it also noted that USF lacked the necessary capacity to oversee the project effectively, and the decision was made to reassign the task to Vodacom Lesotho (VCL) and Econet, with the expectation that they would be better equipped to ensure the timely completion of the remaining BTS.  . . .
