Maseru, Feb. 28 — The High Court through Justice Tseliso Mokoko has cancelled a bail for Mohlahli Motseki of Taung in Mohale’s Hoek who is charged with the murder of Mpho Kholoane, which occurred at Siloe on June 12, 2016.
The cancellation of the bail was done after the court considered evidence that the accused ran away to Bloemfontein in South Africa after he committed the offence.
This was also after the same court ruled that the confession of the accused made before a magistrate at the Mohale’s Hoek Magistrate’s Court is admissible.
The ruling was made in a trial within trial whereby the defence challenged the admissibility of a confession. They insisted that the accused was tortured by the police and forced to make the confession. They stated that he was not free, adding that he did not make the confession voluntarily therefore it should not be admitted as part of evidence by the court. SM/TL
