CHIEF TEKETSI REBUKE RESIDENTS

Leribe, Apr.14 — Chieftainess Makhobalo Teketsi has strongly rebuked Kuenaneng Community from engaging in criminal activities as that would force them to face the law.

This, he said during an interview with LENA on Friday.

He said about 10 birth certificates have been obtained by people from other villages through the assistance of his community members.

“This has been done without my concern,” he stated.

Elaborating, he said his residents have confirmed those people without his consent yet they know where they originate from.

He said it is an offence to confirm people from other villages without their chiefs concern, as this would put them in serious danger.

Teketsi highlighted that according to the law governing chiefs duties, assisting an outsider is an offence especially without his chiefs approval.

He pointed out that the home affairs officers do not know much about the surnames found at Kuenaneng hence they assist everyone without digging much.

However, he appealed to the community to refrain from the acts but seek assistance from his office to overcome such cases.

Chief Teketsi said under serious discussions such people would assisted especially if they reside at Kuenaneng.

Again, he highlighted the issue of bewyes, he said the community should make sure that in selling the animals, citing sheep or cow, the information on the bewyes include the name of the buyer, residence, chiefs name and the number plates of the vehicle to be used.

He said this is going to make a smooth buying and selling process of animals whereby they avoid being questioned by police.

“This will also avoid you having to deal with unnecessary expenses of going back and forth to correct wrong information,” he stated.

He concluded that the residents avoid being engaged in any criminal activities for the development of their area and attain living all in peace.

Kuenaneng is found on the way to Butha Buthe.
