Vulnerable households in the district will receive cash transfers

Thaba Tseka, Mar. 07 — About 1881 identified vulnerable households in the district will receive cash transfers with the aim to improve their livelihoods.

Speaking during an interview with the District Disaster Manager, Ms. Nthomeng Mateete said this is done following the study by the Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ALVAC) which stated that Thaba Tseka has the highest number of people living below poverty line.

She said the transfers are meant to last for three months, adding that there are some beneficiaries that have already received theirs.

She said the disbursement of funds began in February and is expected to end in March this year.

She added that the funds are meant to cover January 2023 to March 2023.

The transfers are funded by World Vision Lesotho through  European Civil Protection Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).

The identified beneficiaries each get M1600.00 per household.
