DEFECTION OF DC MEMBERS SIGN OF POOR LEADERSHIP – MAPHALLA

Maseru, Apr. 01 — Former and long-time serving Member of Parliament (MP) Mr. Sello Maphalla says defection of Democratic Congress (DC) Members of Parliament (MPs) and executive members is a sign of poor leadership.

In February DC’s former Publicist, Bothata Mahlala abandoned the party to form his own party while in early March ‘Maletsunyane constituency MP, Peiso Kelane defected to the Revolution For Prosperity (RFP) saying he is unhappy with his former party. Again, the party has lost former Minister of Sports and former Mokhotlong Legislator Ms. Likeleli Tampane to Mahlala’s yet to be formed political party while Mr. Maimane Maphathe MP for Matelile constituency is set to also leave for RFP.

Mr. Maphalla said that these recent defections could only mean that there is instability within the party, especially since those defecting held high positions within the party. He said people want life and they go to greener pastures because that is where they know that they will get life.

“When RFP was formed people flocked into it because they saw and believed that there was life. If people do not see the future the party holds in the next elections, they will move to safe havens so that when election time arrives, they are already there and are part of it,” he said. AT/TL
