MOSHOESHOE’S WALK COLLECTIONS DECLINE FOR MALIMONG COMMUNITY

Berea, Mar 14 — Malimong community in Berea district says their service provision earnings for tourists who took part at the Moshoeshoe’s Walk has drastically declined as compared to the previous year and they point fingers at low turnout of tourists.

The three days historic journey of Moshoeshoe’s Walk kicked off at Menkhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu on March 06 to 08, Malimong was established as the second camp site whereby local people usually rip the benefits of such journey by providing services such as hot bathing water and sleeping mattresses for hikers.

When speaking to the Agency on Friday, one of the service providers from Tsimatsi village, Mrs. Mathabiseng Mosiuoa, said this year they did not generate that much income as compared to last year due to a small number of tourists who took part in that walk.

Mrs. Mosiuoa said to make the matters worse, they were caught off guard by the bad weather conditions influenced by heavy rains and that hit them hard to a point whereby their service of providing tourists with hot water was disrupted.

“Heavy downpour of rain extinguished our fireplaces and sadly the majority of our tourists left without taking a shower,” she said. . .
