EU RESOURCES IN LESOTHO TARGET GREEN, RESILIENT ECONOMY-AMADEI

Mohale’s Hoek, Mar. 14 — The European Union Head of delegation to Lesotho Ms. Paola Amadei says over 75 percent of the EU resources in Lesotho are targeted to support a green and resilient economy, while the other is dedicated to the energy sector.

Ms. Amadei stated this during an official opening of Hirundo Energy offices, by indicating that Lesotho is a very special place for the European Union strategy to support sustainable energy and accessibility for all, noting through the global gateway programme Europe is aiming to boost smart, clean and secure connections in digital energy and the transport sector across the world.

She further indicated that the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 7 of accessing affordable, reliable and modern energy services for homes is only five years away, and yet Lesotho is supplying access of energy to more or less half of the population, acknowledging that there is still a long way to go before reaching the SDG 7. . .
