CELEBRATION OF BASOTHO LEGACY, INDIGENOUS SEEDS, 20 YEARS OF RURAL TRANSFORMATION 

Qacha’s Nek, Sept. 26 — A festive crowd gathered at the Southern Mountains Association for Rural Transformation and Development ( SMARTD) premises at Ha Sekake on Thursday, defying strong winds to celebrate a historic moment, the 200-year legacy of the Basotho nation, 20 years of SMARTD’s existence and a decade of the revered Seed Festival.

The festivities were graced by dignitaries, including Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Mr. Thabo Mofosi, Qacha’s Nek MP Mr. Mohlahlobo Busa and District Administrator Mr. Habofanoe Pheku. 

The event showcased a dazzling array of agricultural exhibits ranging from indigenous seeds and traditional foods to cosmetics and farm tools. 

Cultural performances, including ndlamo dance, poetry and songs promoting environmental protection, filled the air, complemented by delicious traditional cuisine, including homemade beer.
