MAN IN COURT FOR ARSON

Mafeteng, May 21 — The Mafeteng Magistrate Court has sentenced a 49 Lebitsa Liau of Tsakholo to three years imprisonment or pay a fine of M15,000 for arson.

According to the evidence led before court the convict on April 04, 2024 intentionally, wrongfully and unlawfully decided to burn the house belonging to Tebalo Ntili (57) of Matholeng in Mafeteng, where his wife was renting following their conflicts.  

It showed that the convict deliberately burned the house and destroyed it together with the furniture following his complaint that his wife whom they are separated from for years is staying there with his boyfriend hence his reaction. 

In mitigation he pleaded guilty as charged, telling court that he was influenced by evil spirit and anger of seeing another man in love with his wife whom he is married to regardless of the current situation whereby they are not staying together as a result of their unsolved conflicts.
