Maseru, March. 09 — Cab drivers complain about private car drivers who seem to be taking their jobs by stealing passengers.
In an interview with the Agency, Mr. Sechaba Seleteng, a cab (4+1) driver of Ha Leqele said they are concerned about how free the private car drivers are in this country.
He indicated that private car drivers are able to steal their passengers, making their job senseless because at the end of the day, they do not meet the requirements that their employers expect them to do.
He said they tell their employers about everything that is happening, but he is not sure if their employers have taken any initiative to deal with the situation.
According to Mr. Seleteng, carrying passengers without the right to do so is dangerous because if an accident happens, the private car owner will face charges of not having legal documents to carry passengers.
Again he said that if it happens that a passenger loses his stuff or a private car driver attacks him, it is going to be a difficult case because he will be clueless about the number plate.
He said so far he has not gotten into any fight either by exchanging bad words or physical fight with the private car drivers.
He concluded that he is pleading with the private car drivers to either register their cars so that they are able to carry passengers without breaking the law or stop doing what they are currently doing.
