D-PERMIT AMENDMENT GETS GREEN LIGHT

Maseru, Mar. 05 — The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has finally implemented the amendment of the D-permit which will now allow the 4+1 taxis to ferry passengers beyond 10 Kilometres area but within Maser City Council boundaries starting on March 22.

This is according to the press release from the Ministry, which further indicates that this will be piloted only in Maseru.

It adds that the implementation follows a press conference held on January 15 whereby misunderstandings between taxis and 4+1 taxi cabs, which were ferrying passengers within the 10 kilometres radius as per sub-section eight of the D-permit, were trying to be resolved.

Meanwhile, earlier at the press conference, the Traffic Commissioner Mrs. Mathabo Ts’osane announced that the Board has decided to amend the D-permit, indicating that the 4+1 taxis will no longer ferry passengers within the radius of 10 kilometers in a local area where the vehicle is stationed but will now operate beyond that radius but within Maseru City Council boundaries.
