DISTRICT LGCSE RESULTS INSPIRING – PUPILS

Qacha’sNek, Jan. 18 — -Qacha’s Nek, Hermitage and Makhaola high school students have drawn inspiration from the overall performance of Melele in the recently announced 2023 Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) results.

Mafeteng district topped all the districts with 57.6 percent score followed by Qacha’s Nek with 57.5 percent.

This is the first time that students wrote the school-leaving exams 11 years after the phasing out of Grade 12.

Speaking to the Agency, Ms. ‘Mantomane Molalle, a grade 11 pupil at Hermitage high school expressed happiness saying she is going to study harder as she believes hard work pays off.

“I want to become a top student not only to study my dream course but also to put my district on the map,” she said.

Another pupil, Ms. Zanele Sekoati, a grade 8 student at Qacha’sNek high school shared similar sentiments adding that the results served as her motivation.

“My fellow brothers and sisters worked hard reminding as to why I wanted to attend school at Qacha’sNek high school. I am following their footsteps hoping to do even better,” said Ms. Sekoati.

Mr. Tanki Leheshe, Makhaola high school pupil congratulated all stakeholders for their outstanding performance.

“They have given me a necessary pressure,” he said.

On the other hand, Mrs. ‘Mankalimeng Nkori, Makhaola High School Principal expressed her gratitude saying students made them proud.

“We thank parents, guardians and teachers for their support and the Ministry as a whole because officers are always there to guide us,” she said.

She said the district has again proven its existence.

“We broke last year’s record by improving with 5 percent, a significant number that symbolises growth,” she said.

Out of the 347 schools country wide, Qacha’sNek high school ranks number 30, Makhaola 38, Tsoelike 44, Hermitage 46, Ha Rankakala 69 and Pope John 71.

Education and Training Minister, Professor Ntoi Rapapa announced the results in which he revealed 53 percent as an overall pass rate, an increase from 47.3 percent in 2022 yesterday.

In 2022, Qacha’snek obtained position one with 52.3 percent.
